For the record, it is incorrect to refer to Romney's recent remarks to his top-dollar donors as "dog-whistling."

There was nothing "dog-whistle” about it. It was pitched right down there in the comfortable range of human hearing.

What it was, in fact, was a big old compressed-air boat horn, set off in a room that was supposed to be sound-proofed.
