The LO/KPOJ "Lost Limerick Challenge"

This morning's Oregon news limerick, as written by me, read by quizmaster TJ of Loaded Orygun, and answered by Carl, Christine, and Paul, on the KPOJ 620AM's Carl + Christine show, are posted at LO.

As is so often the case, there was a left-over limerick, re-heated here for your puzzle-solving pleasure. Fill in the blank with the word or phrase from this week's Oregon news:

What began as an idiot-thief case,
Might end up as a coming-to-grief case.
Yes, although he's no ogre,
Bet they pissed off John Kroger
When they ripped off the state AG's ________________.

(The answer can be found in the Comments below, or in this week's Spanning the State at Loaded Orygun.)

The answer: Briefcase

The story: It's not "Pulp Fiction," but there are some guys in Portland who probably wish they could give back the briefcase they stole.

Thieves recently broke the window of State Attorney General Kroger's car, locked and parked in his driveway, stealing a briefcase containing his badge, some draft policy documents, and an address book full of phone numbers.

Actually, Kroger doesn't seem to be taking it too personally, and the case is being treated as one of a string of car break-ins in the area, not as anything directed at him in particular. Sources close to the AG's office say that rumors that he plans to get medieval on their asses are exaggerated.
