Drinking Liberally this Thursday at Madison's Grill

Join the Portland DL chapter for our regular meeting at Madison's Grill, at SE 11th and Madison (map), Thursday (tomorrow) night at 7pm.

(DL meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month.)

As a special event, we'll be watching the acceptance speech by John McCain at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul.

Note: The convention schedule has gone through last-minute changes, so I haven't been able to able to nail down when his speech will start. Given that we're already losing two hours from the time zone difference, assume that it will begin sooner, rather than later.

As promised, the evening's viewing will be accompanied by the 2008 RNC Drinking Game (jpg format).

We will also have the 2008 RNC Limerick and Haiku competition. Sample limericks and haiku, just to get you started, are available here (jpg format).

So sharpen your pencils and bring your best--or nearly-best--versus to DL. I'm not promising there will be prizes for the limerick and haiku competition, but I'm not promising there won't be, either. (Winning the drinking game is, of course, its own reward.)

Join us Thursday night--that's just 61 days until the general election and 137 days until Bush leaves office--for drinks and political conversation.

(And remember: DL encourages everyone to drink, and vote, responsibly.)
