Thoughts from the Sunday Times Op-Ed page

1. Ever notice that, whenever the establishment media finally gets around to discovering a big "disconnect" between themselves and the world outside the Washington/New York media bubble, the object of the "disconnect" turns out to be a popular Democrat, either a president or presidential candidate?

2. To the Republicans, who must spend the day reading Maureen Dowd doing her typical shallow, gender-conflating, parallelism-overusing number on their vice presidential candidate: Welcome to our world. But don't worry; it's just a phase. By next weekend she'll be comfortably back to insulting Obama's masculinity. (Link to MoDo column inexplicably missing.)
