Sunday morning toons: Special Mother's Day Edition

Let's start off with the round-up of Mom-themed toons at Daryl Cagle's site. (He's also got the standard political fare, for those of you who were raised to be ingrates).

p3 Palme d'Or to Vic Harville.

p3 Mother's Day Picks: , Rick McKee, Nik Scott, Mike Lester, David Fitzsimmons.

p3 Citation for Harmonic Toon Convergence: Steve Nease and Mike Lester,

This week's p3 Special Mention for Pop Culture Reference (Non-Mother's Day Category) goes to Pat Bagley.

Ann Telnaes calls to mind that too-familiar bar stool scenario: You had a couple of drinks, a few laughs, but what do you do when the other person just won't get the hint?

Opus does what it takes to have that long-awaited moment with Mom, (Salon Premium.)

The Comics Curmudgeon offers up a mom-themed shocker, when he notices a surprising little burst of edgy nowness in the daily strip "Luann" that they might have tried to slip through on us. Truth be told, I read the strip in question and it certainly got past me. CC has two theories--one about how the reference in question ended up there, in that form, and an alternative one, involving the shirt she's wearing, that's almost to horrific to mention here. So I'll simply allude to it.

p3 Double Bonus Toon: Even Jesse Springer gets on the Mother's Day bandwagon--sort of:

Springer also notices something that may have come to your attention as well while you were perusing the Oregon Voters Pamphlet: something conspicuous by its absence . . . wait for it . . .
