Sunday morning toons

Between the State of the Union, the political primaries, campaign drop-outs, and the economy threatening to go all wobbly, Daryl Cagle's round up of political toons for the week has an especially juicy line-up. Have fun.

p3 Picks of the Week: Mike Lane, Bob Englehart, John Darkow, Steve Sack, Adam Zyglis, and Matt Davies.

The p3 Citation for Cleverly Noticing What We All Should Have goes to Jeff Darcy.

The p3 Certificate of Harmonic Convergence goes to Mike Keefe and Steve Breen.

Portland's own Jack Ohman gets off a nice two-rail bank shot on the endorsement sweepstakes.

R. J. Matson reminds us who cleans up the mess.

For you day traders looking for an edge, Pat Bagley notes the eerie similarity between stock market dynamics and . . . well, you'll see.

Ann Telnaes takes her shot at the EPA's curious notion of "environmental protection."

Opus acts on a fantasy of mine, and maybe yours too. Ah, if only. (Salon Premium.)

At p3 we've been known to turn up our noses a little at conservative humor in the media, but in the proper spirit of bipartisanship, here's a rundown of right-wing toons from recent weeks, courtesy of Blue Herald--and, I'm happy to report, not a Mallard Fillmore to be seen. (By "in the proper spirit of bipartisanship," of course, I mean that the liberals and progressives get the last word via a little bit of helpful annotation after each image. Good reading.) (Hat tip to the magnificently monikered Vagabond Scholar via Crooks and Liars.)

p3 Bonus Toon: Jesse Springer figures that if we can't quite get our act together to actually save salmon runs on the west coast, maybe we can at least turn the situation into a revenue stream for Oregon.

Thanks for the shout-out! We actually covered some Mallard Fillmore strips in one installment of Right-Wing Cartoon Watch due to reader requests, but they're so damn lame it seemed pointless after that one time.
