White House stonewalling in historical perspective

Here are a couple of gems that are making the rounds on the net, courtesy of the indispensable Crooks and Liars video archives.

The first exhibit is a video clip of Scott McClellan from a couple of days ago, getting the snot pounded out of him for refusing to answer any questions about Karl Rove and the Valerie Plame investigation. (Quicktime format)

Poor Scotty. It can't be much fun to be him these days. As a side note, it's amazing to see the White House reporters actually doing their jobs.

Which brings us to our second exhibit, this video treasure from the vaults, back in 1973, just to remind us of what it was like when it wasn't so surprising to see the White House press corps actually doing their jobs, and to confirm your darkest suspicions about how corrupt this whole Rove thing may well be.
