Quintessentially Portland moment

True story:

Last night, I stopped in at the Lucky Lab brewpub. I was there to watch Stage 12 of the Tour de France on their projection TV.

When it was over and I got back to my car, I noticed that parked in front of me was a
Toyota Prius hybrid. It had an "eat my voltage" sticker in the rear window. (Apparently, this is not unique to Portland.)

The car also had vanity plates whose five-letter message cleverly advertised the car's low emission rates. (I'm not repeating the plate numbers to protect the driver's privacy.)

And it had a Yakima bike rack on the back.

So really, unless we somehow threw in a Dead Head in a tie-dyed shirt, perhaps with a lit medicinal joint, that's about as Oregonian as it comes.

What can I say--it's a wacky place, but I like it. Of course, technically, I live in Beaverton, so you could argue that for me, Portland is just a spectator sport.
