On this day in 1964, Louis Armstrong hit #1 on the US singles chart
with this Broadway number. He caught some flack from purists who
accused him of selling out with non-jazz songs like this during his
later career. I'm okay with it.
At 62, Armstrong was the oldest artist to hit #1,
until Tony Bennett, at 82, released his Duets album in 2011.
