that's what Yoko Ono did, and on this date in 1984 Strawberry Fields,
the memorial to her slain husband, was opened.
"Strawberry Fields Forever"
and "Penny Lane" were recorded as a part of the Sgt. Pepper
sessions, but both songs – nostalgic tributes to the childhood
scenes of Lennon and Paul McCartney, respectively – were released
as A and B sides of a single and saw their album release postponed
until "Magical Mystery Tour."
