Saturday morning tunes: When you can sell a line like “send your camel to bed”

. . . you know you've really got something going.

So here's the deal. I've missed two Saturdays in a row with the Saturday morning tunes. And this picture, circa 1974, turned up this week in my Facebook news feed.

So it's a sign. That's what it is. Time for a p3 Saturday morning tune three-fer, something never before attempted in the nine-year history of this blog. Brace yourselves, and set the controls for 1974.

Moving left to right, we start with Maria Muldaur and her biggest – and oddly sexiest – hit:

And Linda Ronstadt, of whom we never get enough around here:

And finally, Bonnie Raitt (and yes, that is a half-finished bottle of Jim Beam she's holding in the photo):

And for those p3 readers who are asking, quite understandably, “Who is this Burt Sugarman person of whom they speak?” – well, it's this guy.

Nineteen seventy-four.  It was a very good year.
