Fifty years ago (yipe!) today, Little Eva hit Billboard #1 with this tune written by Brill Building prodigies Carole King and Gerry Goffin. Eva Narcissus Boyd was their nanny and the young music power-couple wanted to throw a little extra money her way, so they wangled work for her singing demo recordings for their boss, rock empresario Don Kirshner.
