Elvis Costello, who wrote "Alison" in 1977, has been
famously enigmatic about the subject of the song, volunteering only that it's about "disappointing somebody" and denying (only somewhat implausibly) that the mention of "put out the big light" and "my aim is true" is intended to suggest violence toward the title character.
It's in that spirit that the song is presented here. No resemblance to actual persons is intended, and any such resemblance is strictly coincidental.
