Drinking Liberally tonight at Madison's Grill

Happy Birthday to Portland Drinking Liberally--we turn four years old this month!

Hats off to Nicole and Paige, who started the Portland chapter way back in those giddy, hopeful days of October 2004. And hats off to James who filled in for Paige in the dark, depressing days that began after November 2004. We were, I think, the 16th chapter to be formed--and now there are over 300 chapters, in all 50 states (and a few scattered around the Pacific rim for good measure).

And, well, yeah--hats off to me, too! I've been the Portland DL host/city organizer/chief cat herder for two years this month, and it's been a blast.

Join the Portland DL chapter for our regular meeting at Madison's Grill, at SE 11th and Madison (map), tonight at 7pm. (DL meets the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month.)

We had a good meeting last time, for the vice presidential debates. It got off to kind of a rocky start, logistically (partly because the debates begin so early for folks on west coast time), but it ended up being one of our better meetings, and some first-timers joined us as well, which is always a good thing.

Now we've got only 19 days--can you believe it?--until the general election and 95 days until Bush (remember him? "when I have political capital, I spend it"--that guy?) finally leaves office.

Join the Drinking Liberally gang for drinks and political conversation. (And remember: DL encourages everyone to drink, and vote, responsibly.)
