NBC "Meet the Press" host Tim Russert died of a heart attack today.
Survivors include his wife and son; the Office of the Vice President, where Russert's show was considered a reliable way to control their message; and the Washington press corps, each of whom sees this as an opportunity for everyone to move up one rung on the professional ladder and will therefore speak no ill.
Contacted by phone, St. Peter, keeper of the keys to the Gates of Heaven, commented, "Yeah, I promised him he could get in, but he never asked me to go on record with it. so . . ."
