Whither "Punditry?"

Now that Jon Stewart and "The Daily Show" have spent their first proud day on my blog list, it reminds me of a question I've been meaning to ask:

Am I the only one who misses "Great Moments in Punditry as Read by Children," a short segment "The Daily Show" used to run sometimes before the commercial break? I thought they were usually pretty funny, but I don't remember seeing one in several months.

This one, for example, captures so nicely what a sad joke Alan Colmes is.

Sorry - adore TDS, but 'Great Moments...' was one of my least favorite segments.

I think that it requires you consume vast amounts of cable news and/or care about cable news pundits before you can really appreciate it, to be honest.

Hi, Betsy--

You could be right [although I never watch the talking heads shows like Hannity...]. It's certainly true that one of the reasons I was so slow to *get* the Colbert Report is that I never watch O'Reilly, so I was mostly deaf to a pitch-perfect parody of him.

But I still think the kids were funny--and the segments never ran more than about 60 seconds. De gustibus non disputandum est.
