William Safire's self-description as a libertarian (or libertarian conservative) has never convinced much, mainly because his libertarianism has never extended much beyond the First Amendment--but thank goodness at least it reached that far. Check him out, smacking Bill Bennet around the head and upper body on this morning's Meet the Press.
It almost makes me forgive and forget all those creepy and annoying Nixon Apologista columns he used to write, in which he claimed to be channeling for the prescient, but departed, 37th President on current events.
