War: Good news and bad news on the home front

Good news: Portland's US Rep, Earl Blumenauer, introduced legislation on Thursday to force the "immediate withdrawal of 46,000 National Guard and Reserve forces as part of a plan to reduce U.S. responsibility in Iraq," according to the Oregonian.

Bad news: Blumenauer may have been far more accurate--depressingly more accurate--than he intended to be, in this quote which the Big O helpfully pulled from the end of their article and placed above the headline on page 1 of the print edition this morning:
I think the informal peace movement is as powerful as anything that is organized.
