US Constitution: Do Not Shred!

Christy Hardin Smith at firedoglake has point on a major grassroots initiative, designed to make it impossible for the Republican-controlled and Democratic-abetted Congress to continue acting as if rejection of the Bush administration's dishonesty and lawbreaking is a minority opinion among Americans, a minority they can safely continue to ignore.

It isn't.

I urge you to take a few minutes and participate. It has all the things I like in an action like this: Genuine grassroots action (not astroturf) and some sly wit. (You'll see.)

And as fond as I am of the instant gratification of a phone call or email, the sheer physical presence of those faxes as they mount up in those In Baskets is going to be a statement all its own.

Just do it. Don't fret that you aren't an expert at writing to Senators. Just keep it short and sweet and from the heart. Complaining that you don't know what to say to your Senator is like saying you can't go to the anti-war rally because you don't have a thing to wear. Your righteous patriotic anger is your ticket in.

It's already started: The fax machines on the Hill are going to burn through the paper and toner in the next day or two.
