New links for a new year

As part of the ongoing post-anniversary refurbishing here at p3, I've finally gotten around to organizing and updating my list of sidebar links a little better. Check it out--the links you want are probably a little easier to find now.

I've also added a few links:
Blog: Also Also
Turf: "A progressive-conservative meeting of the political minds "
Recent post: "(Reid) WYDEN joins Feingold on PATRIOT Filibuster Threat"

Blog: BlueOregon
Turf: "BlueOregon is a place for progressive Oregonians to gather 'round the water cooler and share news, commentary, and gossip."
Recent post: "Smith & Wyden: Calling the differences"

Blog: firedoglake
Turf: Liberal, legal, great analysis
Recent post: "To Plead or Not To Plead…"

Blog: The Flaming Skirt
Turf: Massage, performance art, and--for the time being--cell phone blogging
Recent post: "A Picture Share!" (part of her extensive Santacon series)

Blog: FURIOUS nads!
Turf: Left-spin observations on politics, culture; serious "Serenity" fan
Recent post: "How To Not Restore Credibility In Journalism"
Other new links:
Site: Raw Story
In a nutshell: Should have added this to the links long ago. Raw Story was ahead on several stories last year, including the Plame investigation.
Quote: "The Raw Story is an alternative news nexus. We draw upon a panoply of news sources and select those stories we think most intriguing to a audience seeking news underplayed by the mainstream media." (Points for using "nexus" and "panoply" in consecutive sentences.)

Site: Center for American Progress
In a nutshell: "The Center for American Progress is a nonpartisan research and educational institute dedicated to promoting a strong, just and free America that ensures opportunity for all." CAP aims to be a full-service think tank for the left, with events, columnists, position papers, talking points, the works.
Recent column: "Think Again: 'Humility' is Front Page News"

Site: Molly Ivins
In a nutshell: Syndicated Texas progressive columnist since God was a pup.
Quote: "There are two kinds of humor. One kind that makes us chuckle about our foibles and our shared humanity -- like what Garrison Keillor does. The other kind holds people up to public contempt and ridicule -- that's what I do. Satire is traditionally the weapon of the powerless against the powerful. I only aim at the powerful. When satire is aimed at the powerless, it is not only cruel -- it's vulgar."

Site: Jim Hightower
In a nutshell: Syndicated columnist, Texas progressive muckraker.
Quote: "Little ol' boy in the Panhandle told me the other day you can still make a small fortune in agriculture. Problem is, you got to start with a large one."
[Note: If these updates are part of "refurbishing" this blog, does that mean that the old version was merely "furbished"?]
