Q: What's the length of the American public's attention span?

A: 14 days--at least that's what the Bush administration clearly assumes.

That's the number of days that passed between September 12th, 2005, the day that laughingstock/disgrace FEMA director Michael Brown resigned following the New Orleans relief debacle and today, September 24th, 2005, the day that FEMA rehired Brown as a "consultant."

You can't make this stuff up.

[UPDATE: If you're keeping score on this kind of thing, you already know that one Michael Brown more or less isn't going to make much difference right now.]
