Metaphor watch

1. Calvinball:

Matthew Yglecias's spot-on description of the persistent, childishly dishonest, and proudly self-contradictory efforts by the Senate Republicans and the White House to cement their power by continuously re-writing the rules. It would be funnier if it weren't true, of course.

2. "A cocktail in courage"

Americablog's characterization of the cynical and dishonest efforts by the Pentagon and White House to milk every last drop of PR benefit from Pat Tillman's death in Afghanistan before disclosing to his family that he had been killed by friendly fire.
