Newsweek to American readers: You can't handle the truth!

For the second time in less than a month, Newsweek has given its American readers a different cover story than the one they entrust to readers in Europe, Latin America and Asia.

Last time, the rest of the world got a cover story titled "Losing Afghanistan," while we here stateside got a cover story on Annie Liebowitz titled "My Life in Pictures."

This time, the international editions get "Global Warming's First Victim," a story about disappearance of species on three continents due to climate change. We get more Foleygate, complete with a frowny-face (because the story involves instant messaging--get it?) And once you get past the cover it gets worse, not better.

Once again, if you think you're getting your "news" from Newsweek--uhm, no, not so much.

Coming in 2007: Newsweek "pop-up" edition for the US.
