Times is money

Effective this September, the NYTimes will limit access to much of its online content, including the Op Ed page, as part of a pay-only plan.

I'll miss easy access to Paul Krugman, who today joins those few lonely voices in the American media pushing the "Downing Street Memo" story.

But otherwise, will anyone really feel a keen sense of loss without the prissy right-wing pop-sociologizing of David Brooks, the astonishing moral emptiness of John Tierney, or the too-clever abuse of analogies by Maureen Dowd?

And I expect--I hope--we'll still be able to get our Krugman fix via Common Dreams and TruthOut. (Although TruthOut seems always to be struggling financially, so if you use their site much you should probably send them a donation.)
