Anniversary

It was 25 years ago tonight that I got the news from Howard Cosell (download a short audio clip here), in a bit of historical bad luck that I stopped blaming Howard for a long time ago.

My opinion of Geraldo Rivera, though, has stayed pretty much the same. I remember Ted Koppel, anchoring the recently-minted "Nightline," tossing softball question after softball question to a babbling Rivera later that night as the latter stood on location, trying to get him back on track when he seemed unable to get past the fact that he'd only recently been jogging in Central Park with John and Yoko.

In honor of the Clever Beatle, today's playlist includes:
  • Working Class Hero: A Tribute to John Lennon
  • Rubber Soul
  • A Transatlantic mix CD including "Mystery Train" (hats off to nephew David)
  • Concert for George

Peace.

Oh my goodness, 25 years.
You wanna know how we got to the sad state we are in today? Consider these four words from 1980 - - Reagan: President, Lennon:Dead. That's what the new millenium is all about, Charlie Brown. Oh well, Happy Christmas (War Is Over)
